Chemical composition and properties of 904L stainless steel plate:

 

The chemical composition of 904L stainless steel is the basis of its excellent properties. Its main components include carbon (C) ≤ 0.03%, silicon (Si) ≤ 1.00%, manganese (Mn) ≤ 2.00%, phosphorus (P) ≤ 0.035%, sulfur (S) ≤ 0.03%, nickel (Ni) 23.0%-25.0%, chromium (Cr) 18.0%-20.0%, molybdenum (Mo) 3.0%-4.0%, and copper (Cu) 4.0%-5.0%. High chromium and nickel content, as well as appropriate amounts of copper and molybdenum, enhance the resistance of 904L stainless steel to chloride crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. This stainless steel has almost no pitting and cracks, and its pitting resistance is even better than other steel grades.

In terms of mechanical properties, 904L stainless steel performs well. Its tensile strength can reach 490 N/mm², its yield strength is 216 N/mm², and its elongation is 35%. In addition, the density of 904L stainless steel plate is about 8.24 g/cm³ and the melting point ranges from 1300-1390°C.
